Elly:

Welcome to the first presidential debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former president Donald Trump.

man:

Kamala Harris. Uh, he

Elly:

ran, he ran around the podium. she came right in on him and she extended her hand and walked right in on him. He avoided her and cowered like a dog behind podium. He did not want to look her in the eye. Donald Trump did not want to look Kamala Harris in the eye. Typical avoidance behavior. And he definitely wanted to avoid her. And finally shook her hand behind the podium. Hiding behind his podium. She went into his area. Into his space. Cornered him behind the podium. The body language was undeniable. Unbelievable. Trump was speechless. It was all Kamala in control.

The Next President of the U.S.A. Kamala Harris:

So, I was raised as a middle class kid. And I am actually the only person on this stage who has a plan that is about lifting up the middle class and working people of America. I believe in the ambition, the aspirations, the dreams of the American people. And that is why I imagine and have actually a plan to build what I call an opportunity economy. Because here's the thing. We know that we have a shortage of homes and housing, and the cost of housing is too expensive for far too many people. We know that young families need support to raise their children, and I intend on extending a tax cut for those families of 6, 000, which is the largest child tax credit that we have given in a long time, so that those young families can afford to buy a crib, buy a car seat, buy clothes for their children. My One of them is small businesses. I was actually My mother raised my sister and me, but there was a woman who helped raise us. We call her our second mother. She was a small business owner. I love our small businesses. My plan is to give a 50, 000 tax deduction to start up small businesses, knowing they are part of the backbone of America's economy. My opponent, on the other hand, his plan is to do what he has done before. Which is to provide a tax cut for billionaires and big corporations, which will result in 5 trillion to America's deficit. My opponent has a plan that I call the Trump's sales tax, which would be a 20 percent tax on every day goods that you rely on to get through the month. Economists have said that that Trump sales tax would actually result for middle class families in about 4, 000 more a year. Okay. Because of his policies and his ideas

Ethan:

The proof is in the pudding. In Trump's first term he did indeed sacrifice the public to give huge gains to the rich and mega corporations through his tax cuts. Even more through less reported tactics like back-door deregulation. Workin folk got little to nothing. The twenty percent tax Harris spoke about refers to Trumps non strategic tarriffs. Which also cost consumers, importing businesses and others. In addition to increasing paperwork, work load and prices, his tarriffs also caused shortages and slowed down the supply chain even before the pandemic. I'll let Elly take it from here. his, plan to raise tariffs again, which was a disaster for housing. As we all know, lumber prices skyrocketed by a third. His tariff was 24 percent on Canadian lumber. So it's usually bad for the people. We pay more and when it comes to housing, we paid a lot more. And prices soared by a third and then they kept going up because of COVID and other factors. And remember he raised the tariffs on steel and aluminum too and there is steel in a home. So that didn't help either. And his tax relief, as he called it, was supposed to give people 4, 000 in their pocket. It's a 4, 000 raise, Trump said. And I didn't receive anything. A lot of people paid more, or saw nothing, or maybe got a 10 benefit, I know a lot of people who paid more. I saw no benefit. Of course, none of us are, wealthy I know fact check will tell you that everyone got a break, but that's not true. That's not true. Myself included, and friends, family, no one saw 4, 000. No one even saw 1, 000 in tax relief. so the fact checkers are wrong. They must be all rich because I know by experience, They must be rich. I ain't see no money.

The Next President of the U.S.A. Kamala Harris:

Backs of middle class people paying for tax cuts for billionaires.

DJ Trump:

First of all, I have no sales tax. That's an incorrect statement, she knows that. Uh, we're doing tariffs on other countries. Other countries are going to finally, after 75 years pay us back for all that we've done for the world. You're right. And the tariff will be substantial in some cases. I took in billions and billions of dollars, as you know, from China. In fact, they never took the tariff off because it was so much money they can't. It would totally destroy everything that they've set out to do. They're taking in billions of dollars from China and other places. They've left the tariffs on. When I had it, I had tariffs, and yet I had no inflation. Look, we've had a Terrible economy because inflation has which is really known as a country buster. It breaks up countries We have inflation like very few people have ever seen before probably the worst in our nation's history We were at 21 But that's being generous because many things are 50 60 70 and 80 percent higher than they were just a few years ago This has been a disaster for people for the middle class, but for every class on top of that we have Millions of people pouring into our country from

Elly:

So, let's deal with this, uh, 80 percent increase that is just a, a crock. it started going up in his administration. It spiked because some of his tariffs and then there was price gouging, there was more price gouging during COVID. after COVID There was more price gouging for housing, for food. And why did our food go up? People think about this. We produce our own Beef, pork, chicken, eggs, dairy, ice cream, cheese. We also plant tons of soybean and corn and We export much of our food. California exports almost all of the nuts it produces and much of the fruit and some of the vegetables. We grow most of our own food. Grains, beef, eggs, dairy, and much of our fruits and vegetables. so companies decided to gouge us. they took advantage of it and gouged even more. like I said, We grow most of our own food. When you talk about pirates and the Panama Canal and the Mississippi getting, jam piled, most of that's not food. Our food is grown here. for beef prices to get, jacked up during either presidency is ridiculous. It's even more ridiculous when It's COVID, some people weren't working from home. They just lost their jobs. They couldn't eat, and they're jacking up food prices like they did because the top 40 percent could work from home, or had enough money to get by, or both, or had family, whatever. The bottom 60%, some of them could get by. the bottom 40 percent were having a real tough time. I'm talking SES. We've got a lot of Humongous companies that monopolize our food, our food industry, and they gouge the heck out of us for everything. Some of these things are what we grow here in America. So there is absolutely no reason talk about supply chain ships are floating out in the harbor in California and everything's backed up in California and the Mississippi and the Panama Canal and there's still pirates, In the Red Sea, you can't talk about that, especially when you're talking about food. We grow a lot of our own food, This is ridiculous. Don't believe it? the multinationals, the big corporations, the Wall Street corps, The lumber companies that control and monopolize the lumber industry jacked up, the prices even after the 24 percent tariff that Trump put on the Canadian lumber, our friends. We need to do something about it.

DJ Trump:

prisons and jails from mental institutions and insane asylums and they're coming in and they're taking jobs that are occupied right now by African Americans and Hispanics and also unions. Unions are going to be affected

Elly:

Okay, African Americans and Hispanics. There's an awful lot of white people, Baby Don Don that work in the factories and are union workers and what is this thing? It's taking their jobs from blacks and Mexicans. What what is that? as if all blacks and Mexicans work in a factory Give me a break, dude, you know, he doesn't even know Statistically how many people of color, white people are In manufacturing, or in any field for that matter. He's an idiot. I got the biggest words.

DJ Trump:

you see what's happening. You see what's happening with towns throughout the United States. You look at Springfield, Ohio. You look at Aurora in Colorado. They are taking over the towns. They're taking over buildings. They're going in violently. These are the people. That she and Biden led into our country and they're destroying our country. They're dangerous. They're at the highest level of criminality and we have to get them out.

Elly:

There are criminals everywhere. There's always been criminals in Springfield and there's always been criminals in Colorado and that's just crazy. And they're not coming in from insane asylums and jails, any more than they are coming in from, some nice little village somewhere in, in another part of the world. Population is population. You're going to get some bad apples, certainly you are. We have bad apples here. There's bad apples that come in. that happens. what are we gonna do? Put them on a mind melt machine? Maybe we can call Spock up and say, Hey Spock, can you do a mind melt with everybody that comes through the border and we can check out if they are, uh, you know, if they're bad or if they're good. I don't know. I don't know. Call Spock.

DJ Trump:

I created one of the greatest economies in the history of our country. I'll do it again and even better.

Ethan:

Trump did not create the greatest economy. Economic growth was negative under his administration; His tax cuts helped the rich and big corporations. Most Americans did not see a tax decrease. Trump promised us a four thousand dollar raise as he called it. We never saw it. However, some experienced and increase in the taxes they owed.

Elly:

Unemployment was six point four percent.

Ethan:

Inflation was higher than his predecessor, Obama. Further, inflation continued to climb during his presidency due to his policies, lack of leadership and unwillingness to play hard ball and make the best deals as he likes to boast. Housing costs increased by twenty seven percent pre pandemic. He had a net job loss of nearly three million. Biden Harris democrats gained nearly sixteen million jobs and counting. Trump lost one hundred seventy eight thousand manufacturing jobs and twelve thousand and seven hundred coal mining jobs. Jobs he promised to protect, jobs he said would not only remain, but increase. Supposedly this was the reason for the tarriffs. But sweeping tarriffs hurt consumers and the American companies and importers. They have to pay fees, follow more rules, hire more people to deal with the red tape and so on. The cost is passed down to the consumer. I agree that we should manufacture high ticket items in this country because companies make a higher profit margin on these products and many pay better and are unionized. Low margin products just add more environmental toxins to our air water and soil, and generally do not generate good paying jobs. I might add, America should continue to grow and raise our own food, but that is another topic we can discuss later. Anyway, The democrats under Biden and Harris, gained nearly one million manufacturing jobs, and as of this date nearly sixteen million jobs overall. much of which was due to their Inflation Reduction Act, Infrastructure Bill, Chips Act, and clean energy investment. Back to republican Trump and his administration. Home prices surged under Trump twenty seven percent before the pandemic. Initially because of his Canadian lumber tarriff and later because of market quintopoly price gouging. They claimed supply chain, covid, lack of workers and even underestimating the market as reasons for the outrageous spike in lumber prices. But they never spoke about the huge financial gains to the companies, their stock and those in charge. Prices for lumber are still high as heck, even though the country is back to normal. Even though these giant companies own the biggest saw-mills, lumber prices soared from$349 per thousand board feet in April 2020 to one thousand, five hundred and fourteen dollars in May, according to the trade journal Fastmarkets Random Lengths. In the summer of twenty tweny one, the composite price index compiled by Random Lengths has tumbled by 50% to$770 per thousand board feet. So what gives? Remember, by in large, that the huge controlling companies do not own the forests. Timber prices from forests barely moved upward; however, the forest owners, small, private saw-mill owners and their employees did not reap these gains. Additionally, demand was falling, but prices still did not drop for the consumer. Yet the shareholders and leaders of the companies that buy, sell, mill, distribute and control the industry, keep stuffin their pockets. So, you see, I do not need false reports from the media or industry to know what has been happening. In twenty twenty one, Federal Reserve Chair Powell, quipped that lumber price increases were transitory and he blamed covid for the hike which as I just explained was a small part of the price increases. I wonder if Trump and his top people had stocks in these companies, or owned forests to be harvested, or stock-piled lumber to sell? Hmm Moving along, Trump's trade deficit increased by thirty six percent. More people were uninsured and the federal debt that we the people pay for increased by fifty percent in less than four years. Big corporations, top CEO's and the rich made bank. Their wealth doubled even quadrupled during Trumps administration and covid. Just as it did in the years before and after the two thousand eight crash. Trump's tax cuts, tarriffs, lack of leadership, covid, and corporate price gouging and ridiculous CEO pay, caused undo suffering of the American people, yet paid for by the American people, while simultaneously stuffing their own silk-ligned pockets. How rich do you have to be? to be happy? I know it's not that simple. Because traded corporate shares and profits must always go up, this is what we are left with, and is one of the reasons why monopolies, duopolies or quintopolies are very bad for the consumer and small business.

The Next President of the U.S.A. Kamala Harris:

Let's talk about what Donald Trump left us. Donald Trump left us the worst unemployment since the Great Depression. Donald Trump left us the worst public health. Epidemic in a century. Donald Trump left us the worst attack on our democracy.

Elly:

So, yeah, he, he attacked our democracy. It's the worst attack because it's pretty much the only attack. then you look at the public health. He really dropped the ball with COVID. And I don't want to go into it here because I'll be here all day, he dropped the ball on COVID. Go look at some of our, other shows and. You'll find it. He really dropped the ball and regarding the economy. Yes. The economy was down when he was in office and he lost a bunch of jobs and not just because of COVID

The Next President of the U.S.A. Kamala Harris:

what we have done is clean up Donald Trump's mess.

Elly:

Yeah, the Democrats always clean up the messes of the Republicans, I wouldn't say it's the worst economy from the Civil War, since Reagan, it, it was really bad. Well, we had the crash of 08, that was really bad for a lot of people for many years. out in the country for 11, 12 years people were suffering because of the 08 crash. And then of course Reagan, his ridiculous trickle down, make America great. that guy, he really screwed things up too for a lot of people. Unemployment was 28 percent In the manufacturing regions for the big three and all the suppliers of the big three and supporting peripheral companies that supported the big three or fed or clothed the personnel that work there, the people who work there. So yeah.

The Next President of the U.S.A. Kamala Harris:

And what I intend to do is build on what we know are the aspirations and the hopes of the American people. But I'm going to tell y'all on this debate tonight, you're going to hear. From the same old tired playbook, a bunch of lies, grievances, and name calling. What you're going to hear tonight is a detailed and dangerous plan called Project 2025 that the former president intends on implementing if he were elected again. I believe very strongly That the American people want a president who understands the importance of bringing us together knowing we have so much more in common than what separates us. And I pledge to you to be a president for all Americans.

Elly:

That's great. That's what we need. And it is true that the Republicans always, increase the deficit. increases the public debt. Cuts programs and takes away rights. And this is how it's been for as long as I can remember. And it's, it got quite bad in the Reagan years. And, Bush, 2, it was quite bad. They also deregulate. There's always a recession, it seems. or a depression. I would call 08 a depression. That was not a recession. That was a depression. Sorry. Sorry, folks. You know, if you have a good job and you're educated, you probably didn't feel it as much or you felt it for a little while, maybe, but you still got paid or you work from home. other people, were. Losing their homes, starving, no running water, no heat, no air conditioning, and I know people like that personally. so to make my point, Democrats do pull us out from the crap, the deregulation, and high deficits, and high debt. Public debt and the crashing of the economy and the stripping of rights, the stripping of programs for the poor or the elderly or whoever, the Democrats, always pull us out of the crap that the Republicans have done. So, let's listen to some more. I don't want to go off on a tangent.

DJ Trump:

Number one, I have nothing to do, as you know, and as she knows better than anyone, I have nothing to do with Project 2025. That's out there. I haven't read it. I don't want to read it, purposely.

Elly:

He gave speeches at the Heritage Foundation, Project 2025. And a couple hundred people that worked in his, cabinet And for some agencies, et cetera, were heritage people. And some of the people that were really close and advisors to him were project 2025, supporters, or they wrote in it. They've mentioned it. Trump's name is mentioned in it many times in the document itself. And, this is a bunch of crap he's saying. Is he, is he old or insane? I don't know. Yeah, actually I do know. He's a con man. Baby Connie. He's twisted and he's a con man.

DJ Trump:

This was a group of people that got together. They came up with some ideas, I guess, some good, some bad, but it makes no difference. I have nothing to do. Everybody knows I'm an open book. Everybody knows what I'm going to do. Cut taxes very substantially and create a great economy. Like I did before, we had the greatest economy. We got hit with a pandemic and the pandemic was not since 1970.

Elly:

let's clear this thing up. The pandemic, Trump had one year of the pandemic. Biden had two and a half years of the pandemic, two of which were quite bad, 21 and 22. Trump was president in 2020, one year of the pandemic. And like I said, the worst time was 21, 22 and and 20. I mean, I'll give him that, but there were two and a half years because it officially ended in 2023. So yeah, he can't talk about that excuse because, it just doesn't fly if anyone thinks about it The pandemic was one year during his presidency and two and a half during Biden's. And. Worse yet, it was in the first part of Biden's presidency, not in the latter part, so that makes it even worse, right? It's even harder to get things done when that's going on in the first part of your presidency.

DJ Trump:

Where a hundred million people died. Has there been anything like it? We did a phenomenal job with the pandemic. We handed them over a country where the economy and where the stock market was higher than it was before the pandemic came in. Nobody's ever seen anything like it.

Elly:

I don't have the current stats and I don't have the stats after the stats, which is the people who died from complications after COVID.

Ethan:

There were not one hundred million covid deaths. Worlwide, in the first 2 years, confirmed cases were around 5 million, but greatly undereported. Calculating excess mortality, the WHO wrote in twenty twenty two, that the number then was approximately fifteen million. Many countries now are reporting covid as respiratory disease. Three hundred to one thousand people die each week from covid 19 in the UNited States. In America, there were several hundred thousand deaths in twenty twenty. By fall of twenty twenty there were over seven million confirmed covid 19 cases. Cases not deaths. As time clicked by, cases and deaths skyrocketed and kept climbing, Trump still did not take the health of the nation seriously he wanted to allow mass sports events to carry on, and repeatedly denounced scientists, social distancing and wearing a mask. He told us the virus was slowing down and that we are defeating the China virus, that wearing a mask is a choice. That only old people and sick people are vulnerable. Well then that settles it. If it's just old and sick people that die, who cares, What an unsympathetic, narcissistic, sociopath. In nearly 3 years, Covid nineteen killed over one million Americans by twenty twenty two, and people continue to die from it every day. Deaths from heart, lung or other complications from covid are not tabulated. he just talked about the stock market. Yeah. The stock market went up and it soared during Biden. It went way up. It just crushed Trump. so I don't even know why he's mentioned in stock market because he's got poop on his face. Dumb dumb.

DJ Trump:

We made ventilators for the entire world. We got gowns. We got masks. We did things.

Elly:

no, he didn't. He didn't put that into effect to make companies, manufacture those or to pay companies to manufacture gowns and ventilators, et cetera. As a matter of fact, he sent tons of ventilators and masks and other supplies to China. Yeah, China of all places, during the pandemic and we needed those, we needed all of those. And he also moved the storage out from the CDC to Washington, DC. I don't know what funny stuff is going on there, but from the first time ever it was moved from the warehouse of the CDC to DC. maybe we should look at that a little closer. Anyway, yeah, so China got a bunch of, uh, our ventilators and stuff. Unbelievable. He, he's got poop on his face again.

DJ Trump:

That nobody thought possible and people give me credit for rebuilding the military. They give me credit for a lot of things, but not enough credit for the great job we did with the pandemic. But the only jobs they got were bounce back jobs. These were jobs bounce back and it bounced back and it went to their benefit. I was the one that created them. They know it. And so does everybody else.

Ethan:

Bounce back jobs? Don't make me laugh. NOW, Let me reiterate, Trump lost three million jobs Biden Harris produced nearly sixteen million jobs and counting. We'll place the pacifier in the mouth of this infinitesimal gutter snipe, they call The Donald, We deduct Donalds three million in losses and take them from the Democrats. Biden Harris democrats produced 13 million jobs compared to Mad Baby Don Don's three million in job losses., Happy Now Donald?

The Next President of the U.S.A. Kamala Harris:

So Donald Trump has no plan for you.

Elly:

In reality, let's look at this. the jobs, unemployment was 6. 4 percent during Trump and unemployment for Biden was 3. 7, and that was a few months ago, I think January, yes, January. And the most recent was just a couple of weeks old is 4. 1%. So, Here we go. Donald, is relying on, his followers to be little drooling idiots.

Ethan:

Another factor to consider is that when Trump took office, the federal funds rate was zero point six six, when he left it was zero point zero eight percent. Almost zero. However, when Biden Harris democrats took office, the independent federal reserve had no mercy for Americans struggling out of the pandemic. and swiftly raised the rates to over five percent. As you know high interest rates lose jobs and dampen the economy for the working class, and decrease purchases, especially large purchases. But even with this handicap, the democrats jobs scorecard buried the Trump administration. Today, September eighteenth twenty twenty four, the federal reserve lowered rates after a twenty three year high. by half a point. Mad Baby DJ cried out loud that the rate cut was to help the democrats, but Mad Baby, we have less than two months before the election. If this was partisan in favor of the democrats, the independently managed federal reserve would never have given you such low rates, and swiftly skyrocket the rates during the democratic administration. I want to see your Wharton transcripts. Really. another thing, he lost 12, 700 coal mining jobs. Yeah. 12, 700 coal mining jobs. And he was going to save coal mining jobs. Remember? I got me an uncle that's coal miner And he was going to save manufacturing jobs. Remember that? he was negative 178, 000 manufacturing jobs and don't say it's COVID because like I said, Biden had two and a half years of COVID, not one. Trump's tax plan benefited the big corporations and the rich and their income went up substantially during the pandemic yet. And you know, there we go. Price gouging. We have to change some of the rules because we cannot allow corporations to gouge us for things we need. And I'm talking about

Elly:

nutritional, non-toxic food, clean water. Reliable. Affordable products. Reliable. Affordable electricity. Affordable. Wi Fi. Even out in the country. Good paying jobs. Solid, good paying jobs with benefits.

Ethan:

I would like to add affordable homes, home mortgages, and affordable and reliable vehicles. Sorry to have interupted you Elly, continue speaking about corporations price gouging our needs. I'm talking about everything we have to have. power, right? We have to have power in today's society. Our homes aren't set up for off grid, and even if they were, disabled people and elderly people are gonna have a real hard time with that. So that's just ridiculous. And like I said, Trump increased the federal debt and the trade deficit. And as I said, Trump increased the debt substantially in only four years. And the trade deficit went up, 36. 3%. Federal debt went up 50%. home prices went up 27. 5 percent under Trump I remember his tariff was 24. So the monopolies price gouging on top of that and it continued throughout the pandemic Anyway, let's get, back to the debate.

The Next President of the U.S.A. Kamala Harris:

You look at his economic plan, it's all about tax breaks for the richest people. I am offering what I describe as an opportunity economy, and the best economists in our country, if not the world, have reviewed our relative plans for the future of America. What Goldman Sachs has said is that Donald Trump's plan would make the economy worse. Mine would strengthen the economy. What the Wharton School has said is Donald Trump's plan would actually explode the deficit. 16 Nobel laureates have described his economic plan as something that would increase inflation and by the middle of next year would invite a recession. You just have to look at where we are and where we stand on the issues. And I'd invite you to know that Donald Trump actually has no plan for you because he is more interested in defending himself.

Elly:

He's a con man.

The Next President of the U.S.A. Kamala Harris:

And he isn't looking out for you. Okay, we're

Elly:

gonna end it here. This is part one of the first debate. VP Harris and, Baby DonDon. Oh, I'm sorry, former president Donald J. Trump. Anyway, I'm going to wrap this up. This is part one. I'm going to do a series, a mini series of the debate and give you some real facts And some thoughts, some ideas you can think about get together with friends and make some changes, get a hold of Scrood. At, Scrood FM. watch our podcast. you can email us off of the website. Or you can text us off of the website. scrood. buzzsprout. com you can text us there. Or donate. And also people, we need to pay attention to things. And we gotta stop being, divided. We have to look at things logically. Where is the problem? We have to vote all the way down the ticket. We have to vote for Kamala and Tim and Democrats down the ticket, For a better economy, for a better safety net, for our social security, for our health care, abortion rights, civil rights. we need to vote Democrat. We need to stay away from the religious right, the Heritage Foundation, the Federalist Society. con men like Donald J. Trump, he is a con man, and if you listen to some of the stuff on our podcast, over time you will get all the information. About what he has done prior to his presidency, not just during or after. The things he did before--his swindling his bad behavior, his ripping people off. he's not a multibillionaire. Like I said, in many of our podcasts, if the man was to liquidate, he probably is in the red. Meaning, he doesn't have liquid assets. He's probably got a few mill stashed aside somewhere, but he's not a billionaire. he's not. He may have a billion in assets, but he's underwater. He's in debt. He's an OPM person, other people's money. That's what he does. That's what a lot of rich people do, and they don't have as much money as they say. Trump couldn't pay 350 million for his and his company's fraud And listen to this, no registered bail bondsman would grant him the money. He's broke. That's why they didn't grant him the money. Finally, the court felt sorry for him and reduced it to some ridiculous amount. It would think it was around 150 million and I don't think he's paid that either. And of course he didn't pay Carol yet. And, oh boy, oh boy. If this were you and I, we'd be in jail. His so called billions are tied up in truth social, and we know how that goes. Right. He was in the hole coming into the presidency. he and his family have made loads of money during his presidency selling goods, committing wire fraud, deals with foreign dignitaries. making money with foreign dignitaries and providing deals for them and jobs for his family and filling his hotels, office suites and golf courses and Mar a Lago with foreign and domestic politicians, the Republicans, businessmen and women, foreign and domestic lobbyists, Secret Service Agents, RNC, despite the emoluments clause of the Constitution of the United States of America, So let's cut the crap and let's really look at what's best for our country and the future of our country. so far there is nearly a 16 million jobs gain and counting Thanks to the Democrats, and manufacturing jobs increased by nearly 1 million and counting, thanks to the Democrats.
